NeoStrata FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
NeoStrata ProSystem utilizes three different Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs); Glycolic Acid, Citric Acid and Mandelic Acid. AHAs are naturally occurring acids found in foods. Glycolic Acid is a fruit acid derived from sugar cane, Citric Acid is found naturally in citrus fruits, and Mandelic Acid in almonds. Many common skin problems are associated with the excess build-up of dead skin cells that make the skin thick and dull and may cause clogged pores. AHAs help loosen and remove the dead surface layers of skin to exfoliate and smooth skin, as well as provide deeper antiaging effects. A NeoStrata ProSystem peel procedure is a specific technique for skin renewal. A high concentration of AHA is safely applied to the skin for a short period of time then chemically neutralized to end the procedure. This procedure helps to exfoliate surface skin cells to reveal fresh skin, enhancing cell turnover and encouraging antiaging effects. A series of NeoStrata ProSystem peels can help the skin appear healthier, smoother, plumper, firmer, less oily, and more even-toned with fewer acne blemishes. AHA peels have the advantage of being non-toxic and are used for superficial peeling of the skin because they require little recovery time. Usually completed in a series of four to six procedures, AHA peels are often comparable in their results to some deeper peels without the associated complications.
Skin peels are advised as a course of treatment, and are accompanied with home care products to maximise results.
• Your practitioner will have assessed your skin prior to the treatment and will have decided what chemical skin peel best suits your skin type or condition being treated. Your skin will be cleansed and prepped and the peel will then be applied, you may experience a ‘tingling’ sensation while the peel is on. Following this the peel will be neutralised and aftercare products will be applied. Your practitioner will also advise on skincare products to use at home.
The treatment will take about 30 minutes, unless you have been advised an MDA after the peel, this will then take 45 minutes.
The effects can be ongoing; if the right products are being applied between treatment you will have a long lasting effective treatment.
